GMC Prep junior Christian Binns looks to fall forward to finish off a second-half carry in Friday’s loss to visiting Taylor County.

It was the same story, different week for GMC Prep football Friday night.

The ailing Bulldogs (0-4) were shut out on their home field for the second game in a row, this time to Taylor County (2-1) in a 32-0 final score.

“Tough night,” first-year GMC head coach Gavin Tierce said. “They’re a good football team. If they continue to do what they did offensively tonight then they’re going to win a lot of football games. They’ve got some studs. Hats off to them. They did a great job in prep and had a great game plan.”

The visiting Vikings scored on their first five possessions of the night to take that 32-0 margin into the locker room at half.

GMC Prep, meanwhile, struggled mightily on both sides of the ball. The Bulldogs were unable to stop Taylor’s attack and couldn’t muster a response. The home team had no first downs by the time the halftime horn sounded.

The outcome remains the same and the product looks the same because the Bulldogs have not been 100% healthy yet this year. Six starters, a few who start on both sides of the ball, were out again Friday. A more favorable stretch of the schedule awaits with games at Creekside Christian (one win all of last year and one so far in 2024) and Twiggs County (winless this season entering Friday), but it may not matter if GMC Prep cannot field the best version of this year’s team.

“Right now we’ve just got to get healthy,” Tierce said. “We had six starters out tonight and looks like we just got another one hurt. Until we get healthy, no game is what I would consider easy. We’ve got to keep the positivity up because it’s been a tough.”

The Bulldogs will hit the road to McDonough next week to face Creekside Christian.
