“We hope everyone can have some fun,” said Mark Weaver, fine arts director at GMC. “ABBA LA is a fantastic tribute band. They have an authentic ABBA sound. They are so nice, and we can’t wait to watch them perform.”

ABBA LA is an ABBA cover band based out of Los Angeles. According to its website, the band is comprised of national and international musicians celebrating their love for ABBA by offering listeners an authentic ABBA sound and experience.

The NewDay USA Center of Leadership opened at GMC last fall as a venue for speakers, musicians and theatre productions. It is located at 220 E. Greene St. in Milledgeville.

Ground broke on the venue two years ago and it launched with a soft opening last October.

“The venue is stunning,” said Weaver. “I hope it will make people happy.”

Friday’s event will begin with food and beverage sales from local vendors from 5 to 7 p.m. The El Amigo food truck will be at the venue providing food for purchase as a pre-concert meal. Pickle Barrel will offer a selection of drinks at a cash bar for purchase before the show.

ABBA LA takes the stage at 7 p.m. to transport the audience back to the heyday of disco with their authentic renditions of ABBA’s greatest hits. With a set list including classics like “Dancing Queen” and “Mamma Mia,” ABBA LA delivers a performance that captures the spirit and energy of the original group.

Tickets for the event can be purchased online at https://gmctickets.booktix.com/dept/AS/e/NAL.

Tickets are $45.
