WHB Wealth Management

William Black grew up in Putnam County and after graduating from high school, he attended Georgia College & State University (GCSU) in Milledgeville. Black received his economics and finance degree from GCSU and counts himself fortunate that he got job in the field upon graduation.

He always wanted to do work in the finance and investment field. Throughout a 30-year career, that has been the only work that Black has done.

He’s the owner and president of WHB Wealth Management Group, a financial planning and investment advisory firm. WHB Wealth Management Group opened its doors in 2008, just before The Great Recession.

We opened at a time when people were seeking advice on what to do with their investments in the major financial crisis,” he said. “This was a scary time for investors, and we were able to help them navigate through the turbulence in the markets at that time.”

Black said he was originally a management major in college until he took his first economics course. That was the moment that he fell in love with the field and changed his major.

There’s also the added bonus that working in economics gives Black the chance to share his knowledge built up over several years of helping clients with their financial goals.

WHB Wealth Management Group’s primary focus is helping clients prepare financial plans for their future goals.

“We were founded on the principal that the process of managing your wealth is more than just looking at dollars and cents,” Black said. “We strive to know each client personally in an effort to develop a wealth management plan that fits their unique goals and objectives”

WHB Wealth Management recently moved to a new location at 150 W. Washington St. in Milledgeville. The new location, according to Black, accomplished several goals for the firm. It gives them more office space for future growth and supplies more accessibility for clients. Black said that the location in downtown Milledgeville also provides a welcome professional business environment. A lover of historic houses, Black added that when the chance to buy the location came up, he could not pass on it.

Though WHB is not the only wealth management location in Milledgeville, Black said what the business offers is unique.

“The personal service and the detailed planning process that we provide,” he said. “We spend a lot of time with each client learning what their goals are and what a successful future looks like to them.”

He added that WHB Wealth Management has worked with some clients for more than 20 years, making them much more than just clients.

“I would hope that our clients feel better and more confident in their financial future after working with our firm. I also hope that they have a peace about reaching their financial goals after we help them develop a plan,” Black said. “Life is stressful enough; you do not need to be stressed over your financial future.”
