LUCETTE: Support for John R. Lewis Act

My name is Dexter and I am a disabled resident of Milledgeville, Ga. I want to thank Senators Warnock and Ossoff for fighting for fair representation and voting rights in spite of the unjust actions of the Republican politicians that create opposition to furthering the states progression in economic fairness, racial injustices, housing and equality. The John R. Lewis Act is a bill that would eradicate big monies in politics, partisan gerrymandering, and empower voices to be heard through the Voting Rights Act.

This bill includes many solutions that have been passed in red, blue, and purple states and communities, often with strong bipartisan support, but because of arcane Senate rulings, it cannot be passed without reform. It’s time the Senate recognizes that it needs to reform the rules that have been hindering very vital legislation that could and would help in the progression of the American People.
I want to again thank Senators Warnock and Ossoff for standing up for our democracy and the millions of Americans who are counting on them, and to let the senators that voted “NO” — know that this fight for democracy is far from over.
