In a time such as this, we look for helpers. Milledgeville Cares is helping with funding, furniture, food, clothes, household items, toiletries, cleaning supplies, setting up beds and moving furniture donated; and, most importantly, we are GIVING LOVE. We have supplied hundreds of items to grateful recipients. With grateful smiles, some declared, “You gave us a home!”

We have done what we could, and we continue to serve, but we must have an office. Therefore, we need more funding, and we want to stress that we have virtually no affordable housing for those who are most vulnerable. In the past two weeks, we have helped more than a dozen homeless women and one man. We recommended Macon shelters, and we took someone to Warner Robins. These are folks begging for housing!
Yesterday, we helped a family of four (dad, mom, two children) who paid a $1,500 deposit and $500 monthly rent to live in a small apartment in grave disrepair — insecure doors, broken windows, and holes in the bathroom and kitchen floor. Recently, their neighbor in the duplex died after falling through her floor!
These problems can be solved locally! There are other problems, as well, but housing and the lack of good medical, dental health, and mental health when surgery or expensive tests are required are the most critical.
Looking for helpers, we cherish neighbors who care and give assistance that is so critical for so many. Please care and share!
