RAY: Vote to your conscience and belief

Letter to the Editor

I write this letter not as a Democrat nor Republican but as a Christian.  I have become very disillusioned by the fact that I have lived in this “bible belt” all my life, but have seen the decay of Christian values over the years.  I cannot uphold the views of my neighbors as they seem to be enamored by the views portrayed by some of our politicians.  It seems to me that many have voted by way of a popularity contest rather than a political view.  How many of us have really researched the platform of the party for which we vote and seen what they actually view as the way the government should be run? PLEASE take the time to look at a comparison of the two parties before you go the polls and vote.

I cannot voice an opinion on views which are not a Christian view, but if you are of a different religion, I would urge you to look at the platforms of the two parties and see if they coincide with the beliefs of your religion.

For you who are Christian, this may take a few minutes of your time but look at the following scriptures and then make your decision as to which party you would like to endorse in the next Senate race:  Genesis 1:26, Genesis 9:6, Genesis 25:23, Isaiah 44:2, Luke: 1:41, Leviticus 18:22-23 and 20:13, Jeremiah 29:11-13, Joshua 24:15, Psalm:19:14. The research of these scriptures may take a little effort on your part, but it way be worth the effort in the outcome of the next election process.

There is a church on “almost every corner” of our county. We have been told that church attendance is a “non essential” gathering, but bars are not.  Should we as believers adhere to this opinion. I, for one think not.  Let your opinion be known. Vote to your conscience and belief. Ask the Holy Spirit guide you as you make your decision.
