This year’s event is slated from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday and will feature resources and materials for students to start the year off focused on success.
The event also allows student to meet administrators and other staff and connect with resources and ask questions. School supplies will also be given away, as well as vouchers for free haircuts. Additionally, the school nutrition department will also have locally-grown vegetables for the crowd to enjoy while they last.
This is a way to not only engage students and get them excited about a new school term, but also to educate parents about materials and resources that are available locally.
It’s not too late also to make donations for the school supply giveaway. Drop-offs can be made at the Baldwin County Board of Education office at 110 N. ABC St.
Even if you don’t have school-aged children, don’t pass up the opportunity to help a support local students and teachers, who often purchase supplies out of pocket throughout the school year.
Every child should have the chance to start off each new school year with the necessary tools to succeed. This drive helps ensure that one less roadblock stands in the way of local students excelling in the classroom this school year.
