Harbin Lumber Company is first and foremost a family business. Fourth-generation family member Westley Harbin currently serves as company president. He started working at the door shop when he was 9 years old, and continued working at various locations throughout high school. After college and a few years working with a commercial general contractor, Harbin returned to the family business in 2003.
Harbin Lumber was founded in 1917 in Lavonia, Georgia, and over the years has grown to employ 350 people spread across four lumber yards, a door shop, a truss plant, a reload center, install sales center, and a corporate office.
“We are proud to remain a fourth-generation, family-owned company to this day, serving professional contractors in residential, commercial, multi-family, agriculture and remodel construction,” Harbin said.

Services are offered throughout Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
The Eatonton lumber yard is located at 924 Milledgeville Road and is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The business’s connection with Milledgeville began when Harbin Lumber Company bought an existing business located at 2967 N. Columbia St. in Milledgeville in 1997. Eventually, they outgrew that location, bought land just three miles north, and built the existing facility in 2007.
Harbin Lumber regularly delivers from the Milledgeville site to more than 100 miles in all directions.
The inventory is vast at Harbin Lumber. Customers can find framing lumber and sheathing, EWP, roof and floor trusses, exterior siding and trim, columns, interior and exterior doors, windows, roofing, interior trim, stair parts, decking, cabinets, garage doors, shower doors, railings, closet systems and more. Harbin said the primary customer base is professional builders or remodelers. The company delivers more than 95% of its orders.
Customers can call the store at 706-485-3447 and be connected with a sales rep to set up a meeting at a job site.
Harbin Lumber Company was recently named a Silver Champion Investor for the Milledgeville-Baldwin County Chamber of Commerce, one of the chamber’s top membership levels.

Harbin Lumber Marketing Coordinator Ashley Guest said the company takes great pride in its work.
“As a fourth-generation family-owned company that has been in business for over 108 years, Harbin Lumber takes pride in the relationships we build with our customers and the community,” Guest said. “Our goal is to provide excellent quality materials with unmatched service because we truly consider everyone at Harbin to be family.”
Guest said she feels blessed to work for Harbin Lumber Company because of the emphasis the company places on family.
“Family is everything here; not only are we a big work family, but our families outside of work are also very important to the company,” she said.
Westley Harbin has a particular element that he loves most when it comes to being part of Harbin Lumber Company.
“We have a slogan of ‘Helping Build Dreams Since 1917.’ I love driving past a building or house that we provided materials for and knowing that we had a hand in it,” he said.
