PEREA: Happy Birthday, America!

From all of us here at The Union-Recorder, Happy Fourth of July! This year, we celebrate our nation’s 249th birthday.

Since the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, values like freedom of the press and democracy have stood as pillars of our country—making the United States a model for others around the world. Closer to home, and for over 200 years, The Union-Recorder has helped express those values locally by recording and publishing the stories that matter to the residents and visitors of Milledgeville and Baldwin County.

Here in the newsroom, we recognize that we follow in the footsteps of generations of Americans who have defended those freedoms. I believe The Union-Recorder has a responsibility to be involved in the life of our community—not only as a storyteller, but as a watchdog safeguarding local freedoms.

Today, we continue to adapt and grow more diverse to carry out our core mission: freedom of the press, and documenting Real News, Real Local. As many of our readers know, we are more than just a weekly newspaper. We are a trusted source of credible updates, proudly carrying the banner for our local area.

In fact, we are investing in ways to better serve you well into the future. Our digital platforms are easy to use, mobile-friendly, and updated daily with extended local content you won’t find anywhere else—relevant, accurate, and rooted in your hometown.

We take seriously our obligation to record and publish the life of this community. And we’re committed to being here — for you and for generations to come.
