SANDERSVILLE, Ga. — A Johnson County man was killed in a fiery single-vehicle crash near Sandersville Tuesday, local and state authorities say.

The victim was identified as 57-year-old Thomas Frady of Wrightsville, according to a Georgia Department of Public Safety report. The report was filed by Sgt. Raumando Thompson, assistant post commander of the Georgia State Patrol post in Milledgeville.

The crash happened on the 3000 block of Hartsford Road.

“The crash investigation revealed that a Ford F-450 truck traveling northbound on Hartsford Road failed to maintain its lane and traveled onto the west shoulder striking a tree,” Thompson said in his report.

After slamming into the tree, the truck overturned and erupted into a fireball, authorities said.

Thompson said the truck became fully engulfed in fire.
