Campaigning for various local, state and national elected offices has begun across Georgia.

Already, small and large signs are beginning to dot the landscape throughout Milledgeville and Baldwin County as candidates gear up with their campaign messages for the Georgia Primary Election slated for Tuesday, May 21.

Locally, several candidates are seeking seats on the Baldwin County Board of Commissioners’ districts 4 and 5.

In the District 4 race, three candidates, all Republicans, are vying for the seat currently held by Commissioner Henry R. Craig. Craig is in his 12th year serving and decided not to seek re-election. The three candidates hoping to win election to the District 4 seat are Jay Wright, Andrew Strickland and Carol Ballew.

In the District 5 commission race, incumbent Commissioner Johnny Westmoreland, who like Craig is in his 12th year serving on the five-member commission panel, is seeking re-election to his fourth term.

Westmoreland, a Republican, is commission chairman. He is being challenged by two political newcomers in Scott Little and Pam Peacock.
