Police release names of victims in weekend shootings

The names of two teens shot over the weekend in Milledgeville have been released by local authorities.

Milledgeville Police Department Maj. Linc Boyer, commander of the road patrol division, identified the victims as Tyreion Havior, 14, and Derquavious Kier, 18, both of Milledgeville.

Police believe the shootings are gang-related.

No arrests have been made in the case.

The teens were shot at a party early Sunday and taken by private vehicles to Atrium Health Navicent Baldwin hospital’s emergency department where they were treated for serious gunshot wounds.

Havior sustained a gunshot wound to his neck and was flown by an Air Evac helicopter from Milledgeville to Children’s Egleston Hospital in Atlanta. He was listed in serious, but stable condition at last report.

Kier was shot at least three times. He was transferred from the local hospital to Atrium Health Navicent, The Medical Center in Macon. He remained in critical condition Tuesday.

Milledgeville police officers and detectives are investigating the shootings of the teens with help from agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Gang Task Force.
