Gang member sentenced to prison in Baldwin Co. case

MADISON, Ga. — A Milledgeville man has been sentenced to a prison term after he recently pleaded guilty to felony criminal charges before a judge in Morgan County Superior Court in Madison.
Even though the venue of the crime happened in Baldwin County, Zavier Chambers agreed to enter his plea of guilt before Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit Superior Court Judge Amanda S. Petty. At the time, the judge was holding court in Madison.

Representing the state in the prosecution of the case was Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit Assistant District Attorney Faith Worley, who was filling in for Assistant District Attorney Nancy Scott Moskaly.
Chambers’ pleaded guilty to charges of aggravated assault, and Violation of the Georgia Gang Terrorism Act, Worley told The Union-Recorder.
The charges stem from an aggravated assault case that happened on June 15, 2021. It happened at a residence on Coombs Avenue. The victim was a man, who was wounded in one of his arms.
“It was all over gang stuff,” Worley said, noting that Chambers is a member of a known gang. “He is a Blood gang member.”
Petty sentenced Chambers to a total of 20 years with the first two years to be served in confinement, Worley said, The remainder of the sentence is to be served on probation.
Chambers still has a pending murder charge against him in Baldwin County, as well as two counts of aggravated assault against him in Eatonton.
