Bonds given 8 GC students in off-campus hazing case

Eight Georgia College students recently arrested on misdemeanor charges related to an off-campus hazing and alcohol case were released from custody on bonds earlier this month, The Union-Recorder has learned.

A member of a campus fraternity chapter was taken to Atrium Health Navicent Baldwin hospital in Milledgeville for alcohol-related illness, local law enforcement authorities and an official at the university have reported.
The victim, whose name has not been disclosed by authorities, was later discharged from the hospital and returned to classes.
The incident reportedly happened on Nov. 10, at the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity on South Wayne Street in Milledgeville, according to a recent press release from the Milledgeville Police Department, the agency asked to take over the investigation by Georgia College Public Safety Chief Brett Stanelle.
Warrants were issued for the eight students reportedly involved in the alleged incidents.
Earlier this month, the eight students turned themselves in to authorities at the Baldwin County Law Enforcement Center, where they were fingerprinted and photographed. They later posted bonds and were released from custody.
Records reveal the names of each of the students, as well as their home addresses and charges against them. The charges are all misdemeanors. They include:
- John Francis Kiersznowki, of the 1900 block of Old Dominion Drive, Atlanta, charged with one count of hazing students, and one count of furnishing, purchasing and possession of alcoholic beverages.
- John Bostwick Ryan, of the 200 block of East 45th Street, Savannah, charged with two counts of furnishing, purchasing and possession of alcoholic beverages.

Six other college students, meanwhile, were each charged with one count of furnishing, purchasing and possession of alcoholic beverages. They included:’
- Shaun Franklin Bellmer, of the 400 block of Carson Court, Augusta.
- Stuart Payne Hilsman, of the 4300 block of Club Drive, Atlanta.
- Mitch Ledford, of the 2600 block of Morningside Trail, Kennesaw.
- Dustin Eugene Gaultney, of the 4600 block of Norwalk Road, Milledgeville.
- Marion Carson Cale, of the Crestwood Drive, Savannah.
- Cade Warren Gantt, of the 5000 block of Town Lake Hills North, Woodstock.
