Next weekend, the Twin Lakes Library System will present its annual library fair, a local fall tradition for more than 30 years.
Each year the event raises much-needed funds every fall to support library programs and services.

The annual event is the library’s biggest fundraiser.
It’s not too late to become a sponsor or volunteer for this year’s library fair, which provides tremendous support for local programs.
The book fair helps the library system fill in funding gaps in a number of ways, so that services and programs can be provided for library patrons. Those services include the annual vacation reading program, which draws participants from every age group, from youth to adults.
Remember that the library is not just a place for books and magazines for many in the local community, it’s a resource for computer access, afterschool programs and activities, tutoring and job research materials.
In recent years, the fair has expanded beyond offering just books, too. It includes food, entertainment and other activities as well. Visiting the library fair is another way to show support for the local library system and its efforts in putting on programs and activities that celebrate reading and the arts.
The funds generated through supporting the annual book fair help to make all those aspects possible for so many people in the local community, which is why it warrants local support.
