In less than a month, local students will head back to the classroom for the start of the 2016-2017 school term.
Back to school will likely be the theme throughout the community in the coming weeks. The Baldwin County school system and the Milledgeville Housing Authority are teaming up this year to help ensure that local students are equipped with some of the tools they need to get the school year off to a solid start. A school supply drive is underway for local students and will continue through July 21. Supplies can be dropped off at the Baldwin County Board of Education on North ABC Street from 7:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and 7:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Thursday.

The supplies collected will be distributed to local students during the school system’s Back to School Bash, slated from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 28 at Eagle Ridge Elementary School.
Even if you don’t have school-aged children, don’t pass up the opportunity to help support local students and teachers, who often purchase supplies out of pocket throughout the school year.
Every child should have the chance to start off each new school year with the necessary tools to succeed. This drive helps ensure that one less roadblock stands in the way of local students excelling in the classroom this school year.
Help support local students and local education by contributing to this effort.
