On Monday more than 1,000 tourists will converge on the local community, ready to see what Milledgeville and Baldwin County have to offer. They’ll bring with them an interest in discovering what the local community is all about, enthusiasm in anticipation of touring the local historic sites, and almost certainly, their hearty appetites eager to try some of the local fare.

Who are they, one might ask? They are participants in the 2016 Bike Ride Across Georgia, which is slated to roll to Milledgeville for the day between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Monday.

Not every community if fortunate enough to get to show off on this big a scale to a thousand strangers and their friends, which makes this a valuable opportunity to boast and put Milledgeville’s best forward.

A lot of behind-the-scenes work has gone into planning and preparation of the biker’s arrival in hopes that Milledgeville makes a lasting impression.

This is a welcomed chance to leave an indelible mark on the bicyclists and their families and supporters who will travel along with them. They’ll have all day Monday to get a glimpse as to what Milledgeville is like while shopping and dinning locally — all the while leaving dollars at local establishments while they enjoy the sites and sounds.

Hopefully, they’ll like what they see, too, and share their positive experiences with their friends and family. This is a great opportunity to make a strong first impression. While many of the cyclists may be return visitors, they may still be some who otherwise never would have though of visiting Milledgeville were it not for the bike ride.

This is a chance for Milledgeville to leave a lasting impression on a few thousand people who may have otherwise never at any other point made a stop in town.

Hopefully, their experiences will leave a lasting, positive impression, and they’ll come back — with or without their bicycles— ready to do business in Milledgeville again.
