A recent study published by Emory University suggests than 1 in 4 American adults age 18 and older count public health topics as a top priority, and access to quality health care as a critical need.

For the past 11 years, the ArtHealthy Festival has worked to further that focus, bringing healthy lifestyle ideas and wellness activities for all ages to the local community.

The goal behind this event is to get folks moving, and for the past decade, the movement has garnered success.

The annual event is sponsored by Georgia College & State University and CREATE Inc. Since its inception, the festival has grown and expanded year by year. But it’s not entirely fun and games.

This year’s festival, slated for this Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. on the front campus of Georgia College, will feature more than 100 vendors offering wellness resources, food tastings, art activities, giveaways and more.

There will also be health screenings available provided by the GCSU Mobile Health Unit focusing on preventative care.

One of the primary aims of the festival is to promote healthier lifestyles, particularly for those in marginalized communities throughout central Georgia.

This weekend’s event is a great way to help chip away at some of the barriers interfering locally with getting health and wellness care access.

This one-day event brings together campus and community members and is free and open to the public.

By offering a variety of activities for attendees of all ages, ArtHealthy draws in residents from all corners of the community.

Get moving, show your support and come out and share in this positive community event.

See you Saturday.
