Wright Heating, Cooling, and Electrical was founded in 1974 by Jack Wright Jr., and according to his son, Jay Wright, the business operated under a particular philosophy. Wright sought to always exceed his customers’ expectations.

From the time that he could walk, Jay said that he was going to work. By the time he turned 16 and got his license, working at Wright Heating, Cooling, and Electrical became his primary job whenever he was not in school. Wright graduated from GMC Prep in 1996 and enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served for four years before receiving an honorable discharge and returning home.
In addition to returning to work, Wright explained that he enrolled at Central Georgia Technical College in the Advanced Air Conditioning Technology Program.
After completing that program, Wright applied to take his state exam and on his first try, aced it. He earned his state electrical licence the very next year. By 2007, Wright said he had taken over Wright Heating, Cooling, and Electrical and hit the ground running.
The business has truly evolved over the years. Things began, as Wright recalled, with father and son running things alongside the occasional helper. Seventeen years later, Wright Heating, Cooling, and Electrical has experienced “approximately 700% growth,” and now has 14 employees.
Even with the growth, Jay said that they still maintain a small-town family atmosphere.
“When you do business with us, you’re more than just another customer,” he said. “We work hard to develop long-term relationships with all of our clients.”

Wright Heating, Cooling, and Electrical currently has two divisions, HVAC and electrical, and hopes to add a new division within the next year specializing in new home construction. The HVAC division handles all sorts of heating and air conditioning service and repair work on residential and commercial applications. If fixing it does not seem like the way to go, they can do full system replacement. Four years ago, they made the expansion into residential new construction.
On the electrical side, they specialize in residential new construction and troubleshoot electrical problems, run underground wiring for docks and outbuildings, and handle replacement of all types of light fixtures and panels.
When customers call 478-452-1148 during business hours (Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.), they are greeted on the other line by a real person, and they strive to provide same-day service on many of the services provided.
Jay says that there are several things that make Wright Heating, Cooling, and Electrical unique.
“We stand apart from the competition by providing highly personalized service at competitive prices,” he said. “We operate with the highest level of integrity and all of our employees go through continuous training so as to improve every day.”
In celebration of their 50th anniversary, Wright Heating, Cooling, and Electrical will hold a ribbon cutting on May 3 at the First Friday Hometown Celebration at 4:30 p.m. Wright says that this milestone is something that they are proud to have accomplished and offered their thanks to the community for the tremendous support they have received over the years.
At First Friday there will be several giveaways, including a $500 Visa gift card representing their 50 years in business.
To enter the drawings for all the giveaways, stop by the tent and get a ticket.
