Custom Homes of Lake Country

Jessica Heath is a wife and mother of four children and some sweet fur babies who loves cooking in her free time. So how did she wind up becoming the owner and mortgage loan originator at Custom Homes of Lake Country?

That is an interesting story.

Heath says that the world of manufactured homes was just a thing that she “stumbled into” as a pre-nursing student searching for a temporary job while paying for school. She said she could have never imagined still being in the industry eight years later.

“While in nursing school, I realized I had grown to not only love the work I do, but also the people I get to meet and those that I work with in the office,” she said. “My mentors and the industry have been so good to me, and I truly love what I do. I can’t imagine ever doing anything else now.”

Located at 2707 N. Columbia Street in Milledgeville, Custom Homes of Lake Country officially opened its doors in January. Heath worked as a sales manager for one of her business partners from 2016 to 2017 until last year. After several discussions, training and planning, plans launched to open in Milledgeville.

Heath has called Milledgeville home since she was 20 years old. She said she has also noticed the growth that Milledgeville and the surrounding communities are undergoing. With that in mind, Heath felt there was a need here for “more affordable housing options backed by a sales and service staff that are knowledgeable, but also sympathetic and relatable.”

Custom Homes of Lake Country is a manufactured and modular home dealer that serves all of Georgia as well as areas in South Carolina. The business is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Fridays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The business has more than seven manufacturers and several floor plans to fit the needs of a vast number of clients — from small starter homes to larger spaces. Finance options are also available.

The goal is to offer clients pricing that is “fair and upfront” while also building relationships with those that trust them with a purchase of this magnitude.

The custom home design process begins with touring the plans they currently offer.

“Once a client has a general idea of the options they want in their home, our sales staff steps in to assist them in choosing and customizing the perfect floor plan for their needs and desires,” Heath said. “We walk the customer through each room, helping them choose countertops, cabinets, paint colors, flooring, fixtures, backsplash, appliances, and so much more. We are truly with our clients every step of the way.”

It means a lot to Heath to be part of the Milledgeville community, which she called the “heart” of what they do at Custom Homes of Lake Country.

“Coming together as a community allows small business owners to interact not only with one another to share and purchase products to keep small businesses thriving, but also converse with potential clients,” Heath said. “Our hope is to add to the culture of the community and build strong and lasting relationships within.”
