Greene Street Pool Tavern is located at 120 W. Greene St. in downtown Milledgeville.

Tim Settle recently made the move to Milledgeville, bringing with him a background in business management and e-commerce.

He and his business partner (who is also the owner of Buffington’s) made the move to purchase another downtown business from its previous owners.

The Fat Squirrel is now Greene Street Pool Tavern.

Located at 120 W. Greene St. (just around the corner from Ned Kelly’s), Settle and his business partner have owned Greene Street Pool Tavern for about a year now.

“There is always a need for a fun, safe environment for college students,” said Settle.

The pair believed [they], “could offer a different, more relaxed atmosphere than what was available in town.”

Greene Street Pool Tavern is open Wednesday to Saturday from noon to 2 a.m. Inside, customers will find six pool tables (Settle said they plan to add more) and a 50-foot bar.

The bar is fully stocked with beer, wine and mixed drinks.

Settle said that the original bar was built 16 years ago, and when they purchased the business, they discussed expanding it.

“We love how much more open the space feels with the expansion,” Settle said.

Greene Street Pool offers free Wi-Fi, and food from the always-evolving menu is served until 2 a.m. Greene Street’s menu features gourmet mac n’ cheese bites, chicken tenders and wings. Pizza is coming soon.

In addition to traditional beverages, there is also a signature Greene Street drink, a coconut and melon cocktail.

The goal when they opened was to create a space that differed from everywhere else in town.

“We decided to ask for college IDs during specific times (after 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays), letting students know that our establishment is a safe and welcoming space for them,” Settle said. “While there are a number of clubs and bars in town, there aren’t many places that offer activities and a casual atmosphere where students can simply hang out with their friends.”

Karaoke is held on Friday nights and there are plans for trivia and pool tournaments.

Running Greene Street Pool Tavern has been “really fun” for Settle and his business partner.

The staff is a mix of locals and college students.

“We’ve thrown several holiday events and movie nights and have loved getting to know the local community,” he said.
