Galloway’s Floor Decor marks 7 years in business

Galloway’s Floor Decor took an intriguing path to becoming a family business. Matriarch Nancy Galloway grew up in Wisconsin while patriarch Ron is from Milledgeville. They met in Dallas, Texas.

Nancy said she knew once the two got married that Georgia would be their home. In 1985, Ron took up the flooring installation trade. Later that same year, Nancy began selling flooring, working for Darrell Black with Flooring America.

Nancy quickly discovered a passion for flooring.

“When I started selling flooring, I knew the fuzzy side went up,” she said. “I enjoyed working with people and helping them find the products they wanted and needed.”

Her work started with carpet and sheet vinyl before that eventually opened the door to hardwood, laminate, tile and vinyl planks.

When Black retired in 2017, Nancy and Ron took a “leap of faith” and opened Galloway’s Floor Decor. Sons Brandon and Alex grew up around the flooring industry and helped their father with installation along with working some at Flooring America. Brandon and his wife Allison joined the team at Galloway’s Floor Decor in 2022. Alex came on board a year later, and both sons are in sales and operations.

Located at 2675 N. Columbia St., the team at Galloway’s Floor Decor is more than happy to walk customers through the process of making the right selections for their flooring needs. They come measure and assess projects for no additional fees. In addition, they offer professional installation service for most of their products. Said products include carpet, solid and engineered hardwood, laminate, vinyl planks, and tile for floors, walls, showers and backsplashes. The business also features the largest flooring showroom in the area. If customers prefer to do a job on their own, Galloway’s Floor Decor also stocks carpet, vinyl planks and sheet vinyl.

They handle residential replacement, new construction homes and main street commercial jobs. According to Nancy, prices for flooring installation vary, based on the products.

“Installing flooring, depending on the product, start at less than $1 per square foot and goes up to $3 square foot,” she said.

Galloway’s Floor Decor additionally offers financing options of six and 12 months same as cash with approved credit.

Nancy said that after Flooring America closed, she and Ron felt there was a need for their store. Between the two of them, they have more than 30 years of knowledge and experience.

They just recently celebrated their seventh anniversary with special pricing and a customer appreciation cookout. The business has also won six Reader’s Choice awards.

“We want to treat our customers the same way we would like to be treated,” Nancy said. “When we meet someone in the grocery store or at a ball game, we want to know that they are happy with the products and installation.”

She also called it a blessing to be able to work alongside family and mentioned that having satisfied customers is one of the most rewarding aspects of running the business.

It means a great deal to Nancy and Ron to have been able to open Galloway’s Floor Decor.

“It is a huge undertaking to open and run a business.  There are many people depending on you for their livelihood,” Nancy said. “I am thankful to be able to contribute to our community.”
