Several drug defendants indicted by grand jury

EDITOR’S NOTE: An indictment is an allegation of criminal conduct. All defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.
Several people were recently indicted on drug charges by a Baldwin County grand jury.
Among them was Anita Ulonda Wilson, according to records filed in the office of Baldwin Superior Court Clerk Wanda Paul.

Wilson was indicted on a charge of Violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act (VGCSA) for trafficking cocaine.
The criminal act reportedly happened Nov. 26, 2024.
The case was investigated by Agent David King, who is assigned to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Drug/Gang Task Force.
In a separate case, two men were jointly indicted on criminal charges.
The defendants were identified as Nicholas Desean Charley and Trenton Jamal Mays.
They were each charged with furnishing prohibited items to inmates.

Charley was also indicted on charges of crossing the guard lines with drugs and VGCSA for possession of methamphetamine.
The crimes reportedly happened Feb. 4, 2024.
In an unrelated case, grand jurors returned a five-count indictment against Michael Chad Nipper.
Nipper was indicted on VGCSA for possession of methamphetamine, tampering with evidence, crossing the guard lines with contraband, driving under the influence less safe of alcohol and obstruction of a law enforcement officer.
The crimes reportedly happened March 2.
In a separate case, grand jurors indicted a man on a charge of possession of contraband by an inmate.
The defendant was identified as Travis Antawn Bishop.
In another case, grand jurors jointly indicted a man and woman on charges.
The defendants in that case were Jimmy Clark and Jennifer Marie Vassar.
Clark was indicted on a charge of VGCSA for possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug related objects.
Vassar was indicted on charges of VGCSA for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug related objects and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The crimes reportedly happened Jan. 26.
The arresting law enforcement officer in the case was Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Alex Rickey.
In another case, grand jurors indicted James Gartrell Lee on five different charges.
Those charges included: VGCSA for possession of a Scheduled II control substance, speeding, driving without headlights, driving while license suspended and driving under the influence.
Trooper David Q. Holland with the Georgia State Patrol post in Milledgeville was the arresting law enforcement officer.
In a separate case, Samantha Renee Jones was indicted on charge of VGCSA for possession of methamphetamine.
The crime reportedly happened April 19.
In another case, grand jurors indicted Mikaila Hines on charges of possession of a firearm by a first offender probationer and VGCSA for possession of marijuana less than an ounce.
Special Agent Charles Martin with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was the arresting law enforcement officer.
Grand jurors also indicted John Clifford Wiggins on charges of VGCSA for possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug related objects.
Wiggins was arrested on those charges by Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Kelli Goss on April 16, 2023.
Another local man was indicted on three different offenses.
The defendant was identified as Ira Lee Strange.
He was indicted on charges of VGCSA for possession of a Scheduled II controlled substance, driving while license suspended and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Strange was arrested on the charges by Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Lt. Brandon Towe.
In another case, Shawn Monroe Smith was indicted on one count of VGCSA for possession of methamphetamine.
