SANDERSVILLE, Ga. — A three-vehicle collision near the Washington-Johnson county line claimed the life of an 84-year-old woman and injured several others June 6, local and state authorities say.
One of the vehicles was a tractor-trailer rig.
The collision happened on Ga. Highway 15, 15 feet north of Jackson Road, shortly after 3:30 p.m.

The deceased victim was identified as Rosa Cason Allen of the 300 block of Martin Luther King Jr., Drive in Harrison, according to a report filed by Cpl. Kevin Kirby of the Georgia State Patrol post in Milledgeville.
Allen was the lone occupant in a 2014 Kia Optima. She had been traveling north on Ga. Highway 15 before separate collisions with a 2022 Freightliner 122SD tractor-trailer truck driven by Glenn Edward Perdue, 74, of South Myrtle Street in Wrightsville, according to the investigating state trooper. Kirby said Perdue had been traveling south on Ga. Highway 15.
The third vehicle, a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by Genetta Brookins, 60, of the 2400 block of Main St., Harrison, was traveling southbound behind the tractor-trailer truck.
Kirby said Allen failed to maintain lane and traveled into the southbound lane. The front left of Allen’s car struck the left side of the tractor-trailer truck with the area of impact in the southbound lane, based on crash site debris and roadway marks.
Allen’s car continued to travel north and rotated counterclockwise for approximately 105 feet until the second area of impact.
The tractor-trailer rig came to a final rest on the shoulder of the roadway.

“While vehicle 1 (Allen’s car) was rotating, vehicle 3 (Brookins car) struck vehicle one on its passenger side with the front of vehicle three,” Kirby said in his report.
The area of impact was in the southbound lane near the fog line.
After impact, Allen’s car rotated clockwise and came to rest just south of the second area of impact facing north, Kirby said. Brookins’ car continued traveling south and struck Allen’s car in the front with its frontend.
Brookins’ car came to a final rest in the area of impact, facing south.
“The third area of impact was off the roadway and was determined by crash debris and final rest,” Kirby said. “The roadway width was approximately 25 feet.”
Several persons were injured in the three-vehicle collisions.
They were treated at the scene by firefighters/first responders from Washington County and personnel with Washington County EMS.
An 80-year-old woman involved in the collisions was flown by an Air Evac Lifeteam to Atrium Health Navicent-The Medical Center in Macon.
Three other injured people were taken by ambulances to Fairview Hospital in Dublin.
