SPARTA – A high-scoring Hancock Central football team handed GMC Prep its seventh loss of the season Friday.
The HC Bulldogs (1-1 region, 3-4 overall) under first-year head coach and alum Brandon Nolley won the all-Bulldog battle 46-3 in Sparta.

GMC Prep (0-2, 0-7) head coach Gavin Tierce said speed set the two teams apart.
“Hancock without a doubt is the fastest overall team we’ve played all year, and it’s not even close,” said Tierce. “Their team speed is something to see in person. It really is impressive.”
The scoring came slowly at first, with Hancock getting on the board via touchdown at under three minutes left in the opening period.
But turnovers have a way of turning things upside down, and that’s what happened when GMC Prep threw a pick-six early in the second. By halftime it was 26-3, and Tierce’s team had no way of answering.
“Our game-plan was to run the option, and they put some dudes in there that were athletic enough to play the dive and the quarterback keep,” the head coach said. “They were just better than us tonight.”
GMC Prep gets its second bye of the season next week. After that it’s a three-week run at home against Wilkinson County, at Johnson County, then back home versus Glascock County that will determine whether or not the ‘Dogs will make the postseason.
