Joseph Hinton was born and raised in construction and specifically specialized in plumbing. His father and grandfather were both master plumbers.

Although he took some time away from the business for a stint in the military after a nine-year break related to his military service, Hinton started his first company — a handyman business located in Alabama, the home of his last duty station.
Several years and business ventures later, he founded Hinton Construction in 2019, specializing in custom decks and remodeling services for smaller projects such as bathrooms, garages and basements.
Now Hinton has teamed up with his brother Jacob to open Brothers Plumbing, a return to his business roots. While building Hinton Construction, he discovered that finding plumbers or electricians was a frequent issue. That led to a discussion with Jacob about the need for professional plumbers who could do service and remodel work, especially since all the peers that Joseph had were booked up.
“So, we knew there was a need for additional service plumbers but [also] a bigger need for someone who would also do trenching in water lines, and we also install septic tanks,” Hinton said.
Brothers Plumbing specializes in service and remodel work rather than dabbling in new construction.
“We’ll help you maintain and improve but we’re not doing new construction,” Hinton said.

The brothers deal with practically everything, especially since they have their own equipment. Whether it’s a leaky faucet, a new water line, unclogging a sewer line, or moving or upsizing a septic tank, Brothers Plumbing can help.
Hinton said they do not currently offer septic tank plumbing; however, they may offer it in the future.
The business officially opened in April and thus far has seen a good response from the community.
Brothers Plumbing can handle residential and commercial plumbing issues, with the price range for services varying based on what is involved.
“Generally, our minimum job hovers around anywhere from an $85 diagnostic fee to about $200 for a normal service call,” Hinton said.
When customers work with Brothers Plumbing, they get experience and someone who will do service work and remodeling correctly, said Hinton. Hinton says that is part of what makes them unique and that being able to do this on a small scale in his community means a lot to him.
Starting Brothers Plumbing with his brother has been “strange,” mainly because his little brother is now six inches taller than him, but it has given them the time to reconnect after his military service. He hopes that starting this venture with Jacob will help make their relationship stronger.
This month, they are offering 10% off service calls for new customers if it is drain or toilet-related.
Their office is located at 358 Blandy Way in Milledgeville, and they are open on Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
