Letter to the Editor

I am writing to express my utter disbelief at the absurd opposition to the proposed walking path around the airport.

It is nothing short of ridiculous that there is even a debate about the construction of a path that could offer not only countless health and wellness benefits but also contribute to the overall betterment of our community. The notion that some individuals are vehemently opposing a walking track is, frankly, insane. The proven benefits of walking, jogging and biking on physical and mental health cannot be overstated. It is mind-boggling that anyone could overlook the numerous advantages that a simple walking path could bring to our community.

As evidence of the demand for such a facility, I conducted a survey on a recent Sunday from 0600 hours to 1400 hours. I observed a diverse range of people, from ages 7 to 70, already engaging in jogging and biking activities in the proposed area. The count reached a staggering 64 individuals actively exercising during that short time frame. This not only underscores the existing demand for recreational activities but also highlights the potential for even greater community engagement with the establishment of a designated path.

Furthermore, it is crucial to note that the county already owns the right of way, and it has the authority to implement initiatives that benefit the community. Let us not hinder progress and deny our residents the opportunity to enjoy a safe and dedicated space for physical activities around the airport.
