Parlor No. 10

John Ryan has been around the tattoo business for most of his life, starting with his visits to Redemption Tattoo Parlor in his younger years.

It was there that Ryan said he learned what it meant to establish himself as a respectable tattoo artist.

Ryan has always kept a brush or pencil in his hand.

His family has been in the tattoo industry since 2007, with his mother owning a space of her own. Together, they decided to create a family-based business so their family would not only be able to spend more time together but also do what they love.

That vision formed Parlor No. 10, which officially opens this week.

The business is located at 130 Log Cabin Rd Suite E in Milledgeville. Ryan said this felt like a great area to open Parlor No. 10 “because of the variety of clientele.”

“We specialize in multiple styles of tattooing including black and grey and color,” Ryan said. “We prefer custom designing each tattoo for our clientele; however, we also have predesigned art to choose from and welcome our clients’ input in the design process.”

Part of what makes Parlor No. 10 unique is that tattoos are only part of what the business offers. The business doubles as a gift shop.

“Not everyone coming in may want to get a tattoo, and we felt that offering clientele a space to both shop for art and decor as well as get a tattoo would better serve a wider clientele base,” Ryan said.

The gift shop offers leather goods made from 100% cowhide, candles, as well as art, leather-detailed furniture and antique furniture and decor. Parlor No. 10 merchandise is also available.

Parlor No. 10 is open on Tuesdays through Fridays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from noon to 7 p.m.

The family’s hope is to not only be able to serve their community while doing something that they love, but also to strike up a work-life balance that allows them to spend more time with family.

It also is, according to Ryan, “meant to give a nostalgic feel and it is on brand with our consistent client experience.” He said they also want to ensure that people feel welcome when they enter the parlor and that they give their clientele “an experience” as opposed to just a tattoo.

“We believe Parlor No. 10 is unique because it isn’t a typical tattoo shop. We feel our Parlor is an experience that people will appreciate and that keeps them returning for years to come,” he said.
