Letter to the Editor

On behalf of the board and staff of Lockerly Arboretum, I would like to extend our deepest thanks to the residents of Milledgeville and Baldwin County for their support of Lockerly in Lights. Your positive response to the return of this event was overwhelming!  We didn’t know what to expect this year, but Milly did what Milly does best: you stood behind us, you came, you supported us, and you helped us create a wonderful holiday experience, right here at home.

Begun in 2020 as a response to Covid, Lockerly in Lights is everything we want Lockerly Arboretum to be:  a gift to a community we love. We hope we were able to offer a small ray of light and fun to everyone during this holiday season.

This event would not have been possible without the support of our sponsors:

Fowler Flemister Concrete, Inc.

We also want to thank the talented entertainers who performed during the Lights, the Sweet Adelines, the Milledgeville Singers and Mr. Wyatt Baugh.

The countless volunteers who prepared s’mores packets, directed traffic, sold souvenirs, and kept everything running smoothly were crucial to our success and we thank you!

We have received feedback from guests who came, and we want you to know that we heard you!  We are already making plans to incorporate your ideas and feedback next year.

Between now and then, please come visit us anytime for a walk, a picnic or one of our other events coming up in 2024.

Wishing you all a happy holiday season and a Happy New Year,

Jennifer N. Pollard
