Downtown Milledgeville will be a gathering spot this Friday as several events are slated featuring a variety of interests. It’s all part of the regular First Friday festivities.

Promoting local artists, musicians and businesses, First Friday draws support from throughout the community and helps to increase foot traffic in the downtown area.

First Friday has also proven to be a monthly opportunity to remind locals, who may often forget or lose sight of it, of the richness and value of the arts and just how much the arts contribute to the overall flavor of this community.

More importantly, it’s a celebration of Milledgeville — the camaraderie of downtown merchants and the community’s rich arts and cultural history, and we mustn’t overlook the spirit of the volunteers and business and community sponsors that put it all together month after month and year after year.

For the second year in a row, Milledgeville Main Street has partnered with a local wrestling organization to feature the stars of Georgia Championship Wrestling (GCW) at 6 p.m. Then, there’s the third annual Faith & Blue event, bridging local law enforcement with the community. This year’s local Faith & Blue event features kids’ activities, free food and drinks, a blood drive and more. It starts at 5 p.m. before the wrestling and runs until 7, and will be held in the parking lot located at 140 N. Jefferson St.

There will also be music from 6 to 8 p.m. The annual Gospel Fest 2023 hosted by Allied Arts will be held at the Black Heritage Plaza next to Allen’s Market on Floyd L. Griffin Jr. Street
