Milledgeville getting another urgent care

The new construction between Chick-fil-A and Advance Auto Parts is set to be another medical urgent care facility.

The website for Peachtree Immediate Care, part of the Emory Healthcare Network, says its new Milledgeville location at 1720 N. Columbia St. will open sometime this year. Attempts by the newspaper to pinpoint a more specific opening date were unreturned as of presstime.

The addition of Peachtree Immediate Care brings a little more competition to the local urgent care market. When it opens, there will be three urgent cares within about a one-mile stretch of North Columbia Street, including MainStreet Family Care that opened next door to the northside Verizon store just last month.

Peachtree operates over 60 locations across the state, most of which are in the metro Atlanta area. Non-metro locations fairly close by include Perry and Athens. Services offered include minor illness and injury, COVID-19 testing, sports physicals, X-rays, on-site labs, and occupational medicine.

Peachtree Immediate Care also offers online check-in and wait time estimates on each location’s webpage. There are no stated hours for the future Milledgeville location, but the company’s website says that most are open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The only holidays on which the office will be closed will be New Year’s Day, Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, according to the website.

Peachtree Immediate Care takes the place of what was most recently Fried Green Tomatoes restaurant. The business had its last day in early April and the building was demolished shortly after. Further back in Milledgeville’s past, that restaurant had been a Fazoli’s Italian restaurant.
