Lake Country Lawn Party specializes in sign rentals and custom orders

After graduating from Georgia College & State University in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in mass communication, Sam Campbell spent a few years working at a chiropractic office. That is until she welcomed her first baby and transitioned to being a stay-at-home mom while her husband Tyler maintained work as a business owner. 

Sam and Tyler are now proud parents to a 4-year-old girl and a 2-year-old boy. Campbell is also the owner of Lake Country Lawn Party, which specializes in sign rentals and custom sign orders. Sam purchased the business in 2022 from her close friend Grier Hay, who started Lake Country Lawn Party in 2020. 

Campbell explained that Hay started her business with help from a friend that ran a similar business in Carrollton. 

“Grier made the numbers, cakes, storks and several other signs and created a great foundation,” Campbell said. “When the time came to sell the business to me, she showed me how simple the process actually is — I project the image I select or design onto the wood, trace it, and cut it with a jigsaw before painting.”

Whenever she makes a new sign, Campbell said that she feels close to her late father, who passed away three years ago and was also a woodworker. 

Lake Country Lawn Party is run out of Campbell’s garage, and the hours often vary. Laughing, she joked that they are mostly during her children’s naptimes. For the most part, she does the work whenever she can and as often as she is available. 

“Part of why it works is it’s so flexible,” Campbell said.

She said that owning the business has been a blast for her. After taking over, Campbell stated that she made Lake Country Lawn Party an official LLC. From there, she used her knowledge from college to rebrand the business, build a website, and streamline her bookings. 

Campbell currently has an inventory of wooden signs that range from 3 to 6 feet tall. The signs are set up in yards to celebrate any number of occasions, from birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, new babies, engagements and more. These signs are themed to a variety of interests and hobbies. 

She recently added several new signs to the inventory, including a boombox, mermaid, coffee cup and a gymnast.

Customers can visit www.lakecountrylawnparty.com, or use the “book now” button on the business Facebook or Instagram pages to book a rental from Lake Country Lawn Party. Customers can select the type of party they want and the date before being taken to a form to select signs and personalize their party. 

“Typically, a basic lawn party includes three signs, and I leave it set up for at least 24 hours,” Campbell said, before adding that she has special packages for retirements and bachelorette parties. 

Customers interested in purchasing a sign can use the form on the website, describe the sign that they want and include images. Campbell responds to requests with a quote.

Campbell said she loves the creative outlet that owning Lake Country Lawn Party offers her and seeing how excited customers get about their parties. She remarked that it typically delights kids the most, but she has seen adults get even more excited when they see something in their yard to celebrate them.
