Images of people saved from the rubble have been uplifting. The rescues are inspiring displays of hope.
But those scenes are few, far between and dwindling.

The scenes coming from the earthquake sites in Turkey and Syria are devastating.
The 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit last Monday, Feb. 6. It collapsed buildings, destroyed towns. Some died instantly. Others were trapped under mountains of brick, wood and concrete. Thousands have been saved but thousands more have died.
Tens of thousands have been reported as injured. The death toll as of Monday, Feb. 13, topped 36,000.
Rescue teams from other nations worldwide have arrived to help in the rescue, to help with the humanitarian crisis, to make the transition from rescue to recovery. They are hampered by the complications of winter weather and a decade-long civil war in Syria.
Recovery isn’t easy.
And while some people arrived on the scene to help, others are unable to travel to Turkey and Syria but still feel compelled to do something.
