The following is information compiled from public records of the Milledgeville Police Department and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office. It is our policy to not disclose the names of victims. These reports do not reflect guilt or innocence. An “arrest” does not always indicate incarceration. The charges filed are noted in the narrative.

Arson

An officer was dispatched to a residence on Melody Way on Dec. 14 in reference to property damage. The officer spoke with a man who said that he and his nephew were arguing via text messages. One of the messages from his nephew, which he showed to the officer, read, “I left you a gift.” The man alleged that his nephew caused fire damage to his 2015 black Chevrolet Malibu. The officer observed the front driver’s seat was burned and smoke film was covering all the windows inside the vehicle. The officer spoke with the nephew, who said that he had not been to his uncles house within the past two months. He denied knowing the phone number where the threatening text messages originated.

Theft

An officer was dispatched to an apartment complex in the 400 block of North Columbia Street on Dec. 14. A man there said that someone had stolen his Glock handgun. He said the gun was tan and it was inside a black holster. He stated the last time he knows he saw the gun was in the center console of his truck on Thanksgiving. He said when he came out of his apartment on Dec. 13 at 6:45 a.m. to warm up his truck, he noticed his passenger’s side door was cracked open. He checked the console and discovered that it was missing. He said he paid about $700 for the gun and $50 for the holster. He did not know if he left the truck locked and he did not know whether the gun was stolen or misplaced since the last time he remembered seeing it was so long ago.
