MILLEDGEVILLE — With a goal of $500, around 275 students at Blandy Hills Elementary School raised $1,070 for Pennies for Patients.
Equipped with only a small cardboard bank box, students collected pennies and other spare change to support the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research.
‘I really appreciate students and parents for donating,’ said Audrey Stanton, physical education coach. ‘It shows that charity starts at home and it’s good to help other people.’
Third-grader Garrison Holland was commended as the student raising the most funds with $49.89. Anna Dunn’s third grade class raised the most and will receive a pizza party for collecting $60.25.
