IRWINTON — The judge in Zachary Allen Beck's Wilkinson County murder trial postponed proceedings until next month, based on the illness of the lead defense lawyer Ricky Morris.
The jury will return Monday, Jan. 7, 2013 ready for opening statements.
With the threat of the sickness dragging the trial into Christmas, the Wednesday decision was made to continue.
Beck's murder trial is still expected to last about a week. The case has already been continued once in October.
Beck is charged with one count malice murder, one count felony murder, and one count armed robbery.
The now 24-year-old Beck's charges stem from the Wilkinson County murder and robbery of 54-year-old Ronnie Rozier in January 2011. Rozier was shot multiple times at his Parker Springs Church Road home just south of the Baldwin County line.
