GMC JC accepts bowl bid

MILLEDGEVILLE —

The Georgia Military College Bulldogs will extend their football season into December after accepting a Dec. 1 bowl bid date in Texas.

The Bulldogs will face No. 5 ranked opponent Navarro College in the 2012 CHAMPS Heart of Texas Bowl in Copperas Cove, Texas.

Navarro will be the fourth top-five ranked team the Bulldogs have faced this season.

“I was very pleased to be extended the invitation and excited for our players. We had an unbelievably difficult schedule this season and it is rewarding to see that the bowl committees value teams that challenge themselves by playing top level teams. The strong win against Lackawana Sunday and the strength of schedule made the difference in our getting the invitation,” GMC Head Coach Bert Williams in a press release on the bowl bid.

The Bulldogs ended the regular season on Sunday with an impressive 43-25 victory over Lackawanna Community College in Raleigh, N.C. The win propelled the Bulldogs from just outside the top 20 in the national polls to a top 20 ranking.
