Max Noah Singers play upon your heart strings

MILLEDGEVILLE — The Max Noah Singers will perform love songs as they host the seventh annual Valentine’s Day Rendezvous Saturday.

The concert will take place in Magnolia Ballroom on Georgia College’s campus at 7:30 p.m. with refreshments served at 7 p.m.

The tradition of Valentine’s Day Rendezvous began in 2007 when Dr. Jennifer Flory, director of choral activities, wanted to host a fundraising effort for Max Noah Singers tour expenses.

“I came up with an event which would feature more popular music than our combined choral concerts and be held in a romantic atmosphere with refreshments,” Dr. Flory said.

The performers have been rehearsing since Jan. 14. Each soloist and small ensemble has selected a song that will not only showcase their talent, but also add to the ambiance of the evening.

This year the audience will be serenaded by songs including “And So It Goes” by Billy Joel and “Up Where We Belong” by Buffy Sainte-Marie, Jack Nitzsche and Will Jennings.

Shelby Cloud, a senior soloist, has been a member of the Max Noah Singers for three years and believes this concert will show the community how hard they have worked to perfect their pieces so everyone in attendance can enjoy the show.

“We’re excited to put on this kind of concert,” Cloud said. “It is nice to see everyone bring their strengths to the stage and see them featured in their own special way.”

The concert is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be available.

Magnolia Ballroom is located at 230 West Hancock Street Milledgeville, GA 31061
