Curves introduces new weight loss program

MILLEDGEVILLE — Curves, located in Old Capital Square in Milledgeville, is now a weight loss facility. It is the only full service weight loss facility available in Baldwin County, according to owner Janice Wilkes.

“We are the only place where you’ll get everything you need to lose weight all in one place,” said Wilkes.

In 2004, Wilkes was a member of Curves in Milledgeville. When the previous owner decided to sell the business in 2010, Wilkes jumped at the chance to be the proud owner of a gym and weight loss facility suited for women and their weight loss needs.

“Our machines are specifically designed to fit a woman's body, and [Curves] is a place where women can feel comfortable exercising,” Wilkes said.

The weight loss facility offers a customized diet plan, along with an exercise program, and one-on-one coaching.

“You would have to go to a gym for exercise, then to another place for a diet plan, and even then the plan would just be a general plan for someone of your height and weight. With Curves’ new weight loss program, we make an individualized exercise and diet plan that suits your lifestyle and helps you reach your diet goal,” Wilkes said.

The new weight loss program, New Curves Complete, focuses on helping those unwanted pounds disappear. It is guaranteed to burn more fat than dieting alone. The program includes exercise, meal plans and coaching all for as low as $12.95 a week and no joining fee.

“According to the staff of Curves of Milledgeville, the cost is comparable to what other programs charge for diet alone.”

The program officially launched earlier this month, and selected Curves members agreed to participate in the weight loss program to test its results.

“The findings indicated that nearly 90 percent of the women who participated in the program lost body fat while maintaining their metabolism,” Wilkes said.

For those interested in a test drive before the full commitment to membership, Wilkes has them covered.

“If you're unsure about us, we're having a free exercise day where Curves members can bring three of their friends to do an exercise work out and get more information about the program.”

The free exercise day will be Feb. 7, and will start at 4:30 p.m. Curves Milledgeville is located at 2485 North Columbia St. and is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m on Fridays. On Saturdays Curves is open from 9 a.m. to noon only. Curves is closed on Sundays.
