MILLEDGEVILLE — Just after midnight Wednesday, Milledgeville Police responded to a home invasion on the 300 block of North Clarke Street. A suspect armed with a handgun entered the residence occupied by five victims, four of which were Georgia College students.
During the attempted robbery, the suspect fired the handgun, but no one was injured. The suspect fled in a dark colored car heading north on North Clark Street.
One of the victims stated that after locking the door, she walked into the restroom and heard a knock at the door. One of the male subjects inside answered the door, slightly cracking it.
The suspect forced his way inside the residence, holding one of the victims at gunpoint as he walked through, demanding money. Two of the victims ran outside, while one took cover underneath the bed.
While still holding one of the victims at gunpoint, the suspect made his way into a foyer area where he made contact with another male victim inside the residence. The suspect fired three shots from a small caliber semi-automatic handgun in the victim’s direction.
Crime Scene Investigator Lt. James Thompson and Det. Kim Khan processed the scene for items of evidentiary value. Several items were collected for processing.
According to the police report, the victims provided a detailed description of a black male approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall. The suspect had a fair skin complexion, wore a khaki jacket and dark jeans, along with a diamond studded black and red New York Yankees ball cap.
Police are currently looking for person(s) of interest and hope to solve this case quickly.
“Any time a person violates another by forcing their way into someone's home with a weapon, it's taken very seriously. The suspect in this case is considered to be armed and extremely dangerous,” Maj. Reggie Hill of MPD said.
