Milledgeville —
After a near week-long search, Milledgeville Police have arrested a suspect in a shooting last week where a local woman narrowly escaped injury.
Suspect Frank James Tolbert , 27, wanted for aggravated assault with a firearm, was arrested earlier today.
According to MPD, Tolbert allegedly fired a shot at a woman as she was sitting in her vehicle early last Friday morning. The woman was able to escape by putting her car in reverse and fleeing the scene. A bullet was later discovered lodged in the vehicle’s steering column.
The incident happened around 1:30 a.m. in the 100 block of Whistle Way.
A local woman, Carina Serfina Batchelor of 2560 Irwinton Road, who is believed to be Tolbert’s girlfriend, was arrested last week in connection to the case and was allegedly the driver of the getaway car in which the shooter was a passenger.
The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, Gordon Police Department and the Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Department assisted in Tolbert’s arrest.
