The Georgia Military College Prep varsity softball team saw its season come to an end Friday, falling to No. 4 Savannah Country Day 8-6 in the GHSA Elite 8.
The Lady Bulldogs finish the season as the No. 5 squad in the state.
Chelsi Colburn took the loss, falling to 18-4 on the season. GMC Prep finishes the year with a record of 25-7.
GMC Prep started the Elite 8 tournament on a high note, defeating Taylor County 7-5 on Thursday afternoon.
That evening it was a different story, however, as No. 1 Eagles Landing Christian Academy sent the Lady Bulldogs to the losers’ bracket with a 9-0 loss.
GMC Prep came out Friday afternoon looking to rebound, but it wasn’t to be. SCD came away with the 8-6 win.
Friday was the last game for the four GMC Prep seniors. Kasey Durden, Brittany Wilson, Kristen Spikes and Caroline Mason have played their last game in a GMC Prep uniform.
They had a good run though. Over their four-year career they posted a record of 91-21-2 with four trips to the GHSA state playoffs.
The Lady Bulldogs are coached by Garry Couch.
