NATIONAL SIGNING DAY: Point University signs two Trojans

MILLEDGEVILLE — National Signing Day 2012 reached the Trojan Center Wednesday morning, when two John Milledge Academy football standouts sealed student-athlete deals with Point University. Seniors B.T. Walters and Ryan Blizzard make up key components of the inaugural recruiting class and hope to start in Point’s first season at the NAIA level.

Blizzard and Walters developed a good relationship with Point University’s head football coach and athletic director Kevin Porter, who has an extensive playing and coaching background.

Porter was an All-SEC cornerback at Auburn University and spent six years in the NFL. He coached in the Arena Football League and at several midwest colleges.

Eager to build a competitive squad in the inaugural 2012 varsity season, Porter showed consistent interest in both Trojans and pitched the realistic idea of starting as freshmen to win them over.
