The future of hunting

Bobby Peoples

Hunting is constantly under attack from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) and other organizations that do not think animals should be harvested for food and sport. I believe the good Lord intended for man to have dominion over all the animals, and that dominion includes the sport of hunting or harvesting.

With that given dominion, man certainly has responsibilities to respect, appreciate and treasure all the wildlife that was provided as part of God’s creation. Anti-hunting and anti-fishing campaigns have reached the point where it has become necessary to codify into law what we have always assumed was our right to hunt and fish.

When you go to the polls next Tuesday to vote, the ballot will contain a proposed amendment (#2) to Georgia’s Constitution titled “To Protect The Traditions of Fishing and Hunting”. The amendment will ask “Shall the Constitution be amended so as to provide that the tradition of fishing and hunting and the taking of fish and wildlife shall be preserved for the people and shall be managed by law and regulation for the public good?”
