Cat Crew deserves gold medal

MILLEDGEVILLE — A lot of gold medals are being awarded this August, the majority being in London at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games. But if a gold medal represent excellence and achievement, then the University Housing Department and Cat Crew are certainly deserving of the gold right here in Milledgeville.

University Housing under the leadership of Larry Christensen and Cindy McClanahan, along with support personnel such as Georgia College Campus Police, the SNAP Auxiliary and the hundreds of volunteer Cat Crew, performed tirelessly, all the while exhibiting down home Southern hospitality, creating a wonderful first impression, not to mention a long lasting one.

I overheard time and again from parents and new students what a beautiful campus and charming town Milledgeville is. As a volunteer, I was motivated by history and a love for Georgia College. Some 80 years ago during the 1930s, my father would meet the train and assist the young women of GCSU with their luggage up to the dormitories. Thirty five years ago, I, too, began my freshman year by moving into Napier dorm.

My how times have changed, and only for the better. Thanks for the opportunity to assist the Cat Crew, Georgia College Housing and Support personnel you all deserve the gold.
