MILLEDGEVILLE — Mr. Ronald L. Dykes, 77, passed away Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, Dec. 3, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Milledgeville with the Rev. Jerry Bradley and the Rev. Gregory Nix officiating. Interment will follow in Ponceannah Cemetery in Paisley, Fla. at a later date.

The family will be at Williams Funeral Home of Milledgeville Sunday, Dec. 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. to receive friends.

Mr. Dykes was a lifelong resident of Florida until moving to Milledgeville in 1991. He was the son of the late Verlon E. Dykes Sr. and Lucille Ostean Dykes and was preceded in death by his brother Verlon E. Dykes Jr. He attended the University of Florida, was a 35-year veteran of the United States Navy, retiring as a lieutenant commander, and was a practicing lawyer for 20 years. Mr. Dykes was a member of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans and First Baptist Church of Milledgeville.

He is survived by his wife, Millie S. Dykes of Milledgeville; daughters Glynis (Jerry) Coleman of DeLand, Fla. and Julie (Matthew) Neithercut of Sugar Hill; sister, Vivian (Dan) Quigley of Deltona, Fla.; and grandchildren Shane Coleman, Parker Neithercut and Brady Neithercut.
