Virginia Smith

GUYTON — Mrs. Virginia (Ginny) Frances Weaver Smith, 52, passed away Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at her home in Guyton.

Ginny was born in Laurel, Md., on Feb. 8, 1957, and grew up in Italy, Virginia and Milledgeville. She was a graduate of Baldwin County High School and Georgia Southern University. She and her husband Sam were teenage sweethearts who met in their hometown of Milledgeville and married on July 30, 1979, in Hardwick.

Ginny was a selfless giver to both her family and her friends. Her focus was always on her family, whom she loved dearly, and she especially was delighted in her 2 1/2-year-old grandson. An animal lover, dogs and cats of all kinds were “rescued” by her throughout her life. Ginny was a lovable but feisty person whom her family will miss greatly.

She is survived by a loving family: her husband, Sam James Smith; son, John Lynwood Smith; daughter, Katherine Frances Smith; grandson, James Kevin Schieber; mother, Doris B. Stevens; sister, Carol W. Hallisey; brother, William B. Weaver; mother-in-law, Joyce Schietlin; and nieces and nephews and other family members.

The family will greet friends from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at the funeral home.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, in the funeral home chapel.
