Joseph Brown


IRWINTON — Joseph C. “JC” Brown, 78, of Irwinton, passed away Wednes-day, Oct. 28, 2009.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, Calvary Baptist Church with the Revs. Maxie Williams, Jimmy Brown and Roger Browher officiating. Interment will be in Ramah Cemetery.

Visitation will be in White Columns Funeral Home, from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009.

Son of the late Fred O’Neal and Fannie Buffington Brown, he was a lifelong resident of Wilkinson County. Mr. Brown was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Engelhard after 42 years of service. He was a member of White Springs Baptist Church.

Mr. Brown was preceded in death by brothers, Freddie, Mickey and Franklin Brown, and sister, Linda Brown.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy Mullis Brown of Irwinton; daughters, Judy (James) Brown of Gordon, Karen (Mark) Vinson-Irwinton; sons, Darryl (Kim) Brown and Joey (Cindy) Brown, both of Irwinton; two stepsons, Maxie (Gail) Williams of Lake Park and Dennis (Kim) Williams of South Carolina; sisters, Georgia Lou Young, Alma Jeanes and Beatrice Hawthorne, all of Ivey, Pauline Moore, Mary Ann Layton and Rose Wheeler, all of Gordon, Sandra Johnson of Irwinton; two brothers, the Rev. Jimmy Brown of Gordon and Terry Brown of Gordon; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grand children, and nieces and nephews.
