MILLEDGEVILLE —

Chester Boyd "Dan" Danuser, devoted husband, father, grandfather, great- grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and mentor passed away at the home he built for his family in Milledgeville on Friday, February 1, 2013

.Dan was born on Good Hope Farm in Marion, N.D., January 13, 1922, where he lived and farmed with his family until he became a U.S. Navy aviator during World War II. Long after his retirement from military service in 1965, he remained an avid pilot and sailor. He became manager at the Milledgeville Airport, where he was the first president of Milledgeville Aviation, and co-founder and commodore of the Oconee Sailing and Yacht Club. Dan left his creative imprint throughout Baldwin and its surrounding counties as an esteemed building designer and contractor for more than 40 years.

He was predeceased by his parents, Cyrus and Josephine Solberg Danuser; brother, Gerald; sisters, Adeline and Geraldine.

Dan is survived by his wife of 67 years Helen Smith Danuser; sister: Lonny McKee (Skinner); children: Chet (Jean), Ann, Ken (Kaye),Vickie Swinger (Gary), Dwight (Karen), Chris (Trenesa); nieces: Joyce and Kristi Blizzard; grandchildren: Bo, Shar, Jason (Stephanie), Greg (Nancy), Megan Luttrull (Jason), Hayley Hanson, Dylan, Romon, Rachel Sposito (Jason), Russell Swinger, Will Swinger (Danielle), Kyle Sparks (Sara Beth), Kaitlyn Sparks; great-grandchildren: Alaynah, Carlie, Wesley, Luke, Marleigh, Lola; caregivers: Juanita, Jenell, Carolyn, Chris and Edwina.

On February 16, 2013, at 2 p.m. a memorial service celebrating Dan's "Sentimental Journey" will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Milledgeville, where he was a member and former deacon.

Following the service, there will be a visitation with the family in the fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Serenity Hospice or First Presbyterian Church in Milledgeville.
