Marjorie Owen Hitz

Marjorie Owen Hitz, 75, formerly of Milledgeville, GA died Thursday, November 15, 2007 at Magnolia Manor, Columbus, GA after a long illness.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday at one o’clock in the afternoon in Baldwin Memorial Gardens, Milledgeville.

Mrs. Hitz was born June 2, 1932, in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late Edson H. Owen and Marguerite Freyermuth Owen. Mrs. Hitz was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. George Raymond Hitz.

While a resident of Milledgeville, Mrs. Hitz was the office manager for her husband’s dental practice and following his death was employed by Exchange Bank where she retired. She was also a volunteer for the Oconee Regional Medical Center and a member of First Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Linda Hitz Shinkle and husband John; a son, Randall Thomas Hitz and wife Brenda, all of Columbus; a brother, Edson H. Owen of Massachusetts; sisters, Beverly Owen Ciralie of North Carolina, and Joyce Owen Neri of Pennsylvania; two granddaughters, Chandler Anne Shinkle and Cathryn Elizabeth Shinkle of Birmingham, Alabama.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to St. Francis Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 7000, Columbus, GA 31908-7000 or Columbus Hospice, 7020 Moon Road, Columbus, GA 31909.
